Kilifi County Signs MOU to Enhance Access to Universal Healthcare
In a significant move toward improving healthcare access for all residents, H.E. Gideon M. Mung’aro, Governor of Kilifi County, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Kilifi County Government and Health Partners International Development Limited. This strategic partnership aims to create a structured framework for enhancing access to universal healthcare within Kilifi’s communities.
The primary focus of the MOU is to promote social health insurance and ensure that all residents have the opportunity to enroll in health coverage. As part of the agreement, advocacy initiatives will be launched to educate the community on the benefits and importance of social health insurance, ensuring that people are informed and empowered to take action toward their health and well-being.
A key partnership component will be the identification and training of local trainers and community health promoters. These individuals will play a crucial role in educating and guiding residents, particularly those in cooperatives and rural areas, through the process of enrolling in social health insurance schemes. By building capacity within the community, the initiative aims to make healthcare more accessible and sustainable for everyone.
Governor Mung’aro’s leadership continues to prioritize the health and well-being of Kilifi residents. This MOU is a crucial step in ensuring that quality healthcare is not a privilege, but a universal right for all. The partnership with Health Partners International Development Limited aligns with the county’s commitment to advancing healthcare and improving the lives of its people.
With this agreement, Kilifi County is one step closer to achieving universal health coverage and ensuring that no one is left behind in accessing essential healthcare services.
