Governor Mung’aro meets with Cabinet Secretary Miano to discuss partnering on tourism

H.E Gideon M. Mung’aro held a meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Tourism, headed by the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Ms. Rebecca Miano, at his office. The Cabinet Secretary is currently on a 2-day working tour in Kilifi County.

Discussions during the meeting revolved around potential areas for collaboration, with a specific focus on the marketing of tourism products, capacity building for industry stakeholders, and infrastructural development. Furthermore, strategies for involving private developers in the restoration of deteriorated hotels to improve guest accommodation were addressed. In light of the upcoming establishment of the Ronald Ngalla Utalii College in Kilifi, the possibility of introducing short courses for individuals with industry experience but lacking certification was explored, enabling them to acquire relevant credentials for employment opportunities in the cruise ship industry and other sectors.

This visit coincides with our preparations for the Kilifi County International Investment Conference, scheduled for December 4-6, 2024, emphasizing our dedication to advancing tourism promotion efforts in Kilifi.
